CASTLE HISTORY

Château de Celles, also known as Château de Vêves, is a listed monument and one of the most remarkable examples of 15th-century military architecture.
According to tradition and chronicles, the foundations of the original castle date back to the time of Pepin de Herstal (670-714), who was attracted to the area by the proximity of Saint-Hadelin and the favorable location of the hill overlooking and commanding the old road from Dinant to Rochefort.
Destroyed in 1200, rebuilt in 1230, the buildings burned down in the early 15th century and were restored after the fire. The château remained a fortress until the end of the Middle Ages.
During the Renaissance period, the buildings were completely transformed; later, under Louis XV, further modifications were made, mainly to the interior layout, woodwork, alcoves and wall windows. The layout forms an irregular triangle flanked by four large towers and two smaller ones.

Chasse au Trésor Familiale

Oyez, Oyez ...

Anno 1229… A knight enters the courtyard of the Château de Vêves in a hurry. He is returning from the Crusades, exhausted, but has brought back a coveted treasure… the Real Blood or Holy Grail, for those in the know.
Knights, noble lords, miscreants and impostors seek this treasure in order to obtain eternal life.

No less than Lancelot, Perceval, King Arthus & Engrevain, son of Lot d’Orcanie and Morganse, 2nd best knight in the world, and many others are on the hunt.

But this one will be faithfully preserved here, within the walls of the Château de Vêves, for more than 800 years — protected and defended with heart and soul so it may be passed on to future generations…
And that generation is… you! WHO will find it?!

Old Castle in perfect condition, transformed into a 19th century residence, beautiful rooms decorated with taste, it's really worth the detour!

We took the fun guided tour. It was great!! Children in disguise, knight ceremony, medieval dance, etc... To finish with the discovery of the treasure. Small reward to all the brave knights and princesses. To do. Without forgetting, the castle is superb too. We had a very good time.
